Own your own piece of Chinook History!
The City of Chinook has graciously agreed to sell the Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation the iconic “Curly Slide” to be used as a Fundraiser to support the rehabilitation of the Ensign Sweet Memorial Park in Chinook. The Curly Slide has been an incredible part of Chinook’s History for many years and it is sadly, no longer able to remain in the park due to new regulations for playground equipment.

However, to help with the project instead, the Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation feel honored to be able to Auction off the Slide during our upcoming Brewfest, September 12th, 2026 at 4 p.m. in Chinook. We are excited that the iconic slide may still live on, whether it is in someone’s backyard, on their farm, ranch or wherever they choose to install it. You could own your own piece of Chinook’s History, how neat is that?!
Park Renovations are slated to begin September 15th, 2026. The slide will be auctioned off shortly after 6:00 p.m. during the Sweet Park Brewfest on September 12th, 2026. Kevin Elias has graciously agreed to be our Live Auctioneer and Moxley Construction has agreed to remove it for the winning bidder for just $1. Our community is so amazing and steps up whenever asked!
Below you will find information on the Bid Process and how it works:
- Bid on the Item after 6 p.m. at the Brewfest Event. Bidding will be done via the Live Event, only. No Proxy bids will be taken from afar from our Foundation as we do not have the ability to manage that. The Brewfest is a very hectic time for us as the Board of Directors. If you would like do a Proxy Bid, you will need to recruit someone from Chinook that could attend and bid on your behalf.
- If you are the winning bidder, you will need to pay for the slide that evening (even if you are bidding Proxy for a friend). Payment will be required right after the Auction. Jessica Aberg will be present as Clerk of the Auction. Payment will be required in the form of a Check payable to the Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation.
- Once purchased, you will need to sign a Bill of Sale Document that evening, and you will have until 8 p.m. on Monday, September 14th, 2026 to have it removed. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to schedule removal. Should you choose, Moxley Construction in Chinook has graciously agreed to remove it for $1, payable to Moxley Construction, Inc. The City Public Works Director will need to present at the time of removal.
- Install at your own home, farm, ranch or wherever you choose to have it. Enjoy!
